  • Man my first bike was a Suzuki ts185,then and 04 gs500,then a 05 gsxr600 bought them all cheap previously laid over...fixed them up and really enjoyed them...they sit in my shop collecting you make me want to ride again...just a little hesitant with all the terrible drivers in my of which almost killed me in a 55+55 offset head don’t really think it could ever happen until it bad I wasn’t on my bike could have down shift kicked the back tire out and missed the car like a boss.....or.....more than likely been Ground into hamburger by a pathfinder...seriously the new ones are big...damn near full size

  • Well put! Probably the worst part of the new R1250GS @ 8:00. Putting electronics inside the engine casing is bad news for many reasons.

  • I was thinking of buying a r1250gsa. What a surprise I got when I contacted the dealer in Vancouver, High Road. They told me no test drives, you can only take the bike around the block. Wow, I have owned many vehicles and test driven even more including a 160K porsche. Never have I been told no test drive. They did say this was to keep kms low and that I could go rent one at cycle BC for which I would be reimbursed if I bought new.. Cycle BC has neither the year nor the model. The way I see it I can order from any dealership I want over the phone so why go to this dealer, they dont offer any value add. That said this exercise was a HUGE red flag that this dealer will be my only local service agent and I am not sure I want this. I am all ears if anyone has recommendations for other adventure bikes or other BC dealers.

  • Holy shit, someone recommended the V-Strom 1050XT over THE Bmw GS!? In a video about said GS!? That is heresy my friend! The GS Riders are going coming for you! Quickly! Jump on the back of my V4 engined Honda Crosstourer! See ya later Beemerbois!

  • Not surprised at all. BMWs vehicles are all overrated maintenance nightmares. And they know it. The special oil filler cap tool is a perfect summary of BMW in general.

  • showed this to my friend who is a bmw motorcycle mechanic. he didnt like it. thats why i like it even more lol. he made me ride a 1250 GS. its a damn good motorcycle and lovely to ride on the road. it was developed in the alps. thats where i would take it. for me its a touring bike for mountain roads. nothing more. i feel like the long suspension travel is only for bad roads btw after ive done a few mods to my DR650, its just as comfortable as the GS but its more capable to go anywhere and do anything and its more reliable and way easier to fix IF something goes wrong in the middle of mongolia.

  • CVVT has been around for a long time now. Standard on almost every Honda car since 2001. Basically standard equipment on every car today. Even BMW has their own version with the double VANOS that came out in 1996, and their Valvetronic variable valve lift system, often used in conjunction with each other since 2001.

  • It's too bad that nobody has licensed the Multi-Air tech from Fiat, which is an electrically controlled super fast hydraulic valve system used in many Fiat vehicles. The intake vales are so fast they can open and shut them twice in one cycle. It is the most advanced valve system on the planet.

  • Never the less, it’s still a better performing bike than the 1200cc version. It can be ridden off road in fairly arduous conditions. A lot of the technology is fail safe. Tech for tech’s sake, applies to everything. Every manufacturer is trying to leap frog their rivals.

Now if BMW could just stop by leaking front caliper,in%20the%20front%2Dbrake%20caliper. I would be happier that I didn't buy the motorcycle equivalent of a land rover defender. That sounds like a very nice list of things in the plus column to me. Those changes resulted in me finally buying my first GS after passing on the 1200 numerous times.

  • People will not walk away from the GS 1250, simpy because the GS is like the big plush, status holding, stupid expensive 4X4 of motorcycles. Like Range Rovers, most GS's never go offroad. They just serve as status and penis size increasing tools. I know... I ride a K1600 amid a large group of GS's... I like comfortable touring, and apparently GS owners like it also. So... why don't they buy an RT or a K16? F*ck knows...

    Nuno NunesNuno NunesPrieš 3 mėnesius
    • If the rt was a lighter more compact bike people would probably buy it over a GS. BMW should consider a R1250xr. If you ask me. I would still like a r1250gs. Don't need to go off road. It still has a good engine good ride good low down and top end power. And balance that is unmatched. And a shaft drive. I don't like 17" cast wheels or a huge fairing that's why I don't like the RT. And the RS is way too sporty.

      Chris HartChris HartPrieš 2 mėnesius
  • For the cost of that thing, the closest it will ever get to off roading is packed dirt.
