Ryan brings you his top picks from a slew of new full-face helmets for 2018. We’ve got a fancy noise cancelling bucket from Sena, an affordable Arai (relatively speaking, of course), a contender for the best sport touring lid throne and lastly, two super cool helmets from Biltwell and Icon.

  • A note on the HJC RPHA 70 ST: Ryan mentions it to be “...always louder than competitor’s...” Champion Helmets road test review showed the RPHA 70 to be a very quiet helmet at 97 Db, which matched the same total as the Shoei GT Air2. A typical decibel rating for a typical full-face helmet is around 102 Db.

  • I know this is an old video but I just don't understand what's so impressive about some of these helmets like the HJC one. You can literally get a Sharp 4 star+ touring helmet with sunvisor, comfort lining, good airflow, good visor for under 200 bucks like the Scorpion Exo 510 Air, it's an absolutely superb helmet and I see no reason the spend more than that on a helmet. the extra safety I get from a 1000$ Arai really doesn't make a difference and whilst it may be more comfortable, once you break in the Scorpion i've absolutely 0 problems wearing it for 6hrs+ so i just don't see why i would need something "more comfortable" all this whilst weighing in at 1500g which is considered light??? I had a carbon fibre uvex with basic features that weighed 1000g, now THAT IS light

    • Arai is the best. You give 600$ but your helmet will be like new after 5-7 years.I have it for 7 years and i only changed visor once or twice. In 2021 i will give again 600$ to buy a new ARAI.So its not expensive when you give 600$ every 5-6 or even 7 years!!.(i know that Arai says to change your ARAI after 5 years for safety reasons but i don't thing its a problem to keep it 1 and 2 years more, the quality of this helmet is great)

  • I have the airflight. It's a poser's helmet, and I know it. It's too loud, too heavy and too pricy for what it is. And worst of all, the visor has a tendency of opening when driving fast and looking over your shoulder for traffic. But it's sooo pretty. :D As a sidenote.. I run the red visor. It's brilliant! On a summersday it tones down all the light, removing the need to squint. In really harsh direct light, the shade can be closed and then it's absolutely fine that it doesn't close very far. It only needs to cover the sun.

  • I remember seeing the Simpson helmets being worn by the stig on top gear and then I seen them in my friends dads drag racing magazine and I was like fudge one of those would be so cool as a motorcycle helmet. I was gonna buy one and just wear it anyways but all of them were over 500 I think and not even made for motorcycles. Then a few years later I start seeing guys on the internet wearing them then some more time goes by and I realize Simpson had made a motorcycle helmet. Now everyone from 18-35 years old on a Harley has one. If I get one now I’ll feel like I’m just hopping on a trend. Should have coughed up the cash and been one of the first guys on a bike with one on.

I would like a quarterly updated series of "of all helmets ever made, what are the top 10 at the time of this video". Now that would be a must watch

  • I bought a Biltwell Lane Splitter from Fortnine.com and let me tell you, it is the worst purchase I have ever made... #1 it fits super tight on the face, so tight I had to spend another $20 on cheek pads. #2 after just 1 ride, the anti fog coating inside the shield started to peel off and I had to spend another $46 for a new one. If you want this look, buy a Simpson.

    Nice ShotNice ShotPrieš metus
  • The tech in this is very similar to that of the 3M PELTOR COMTACS only difference is it amplifies sound so you can hear people until there is a loud noise in which it cuts out the sound. I know my local police scotland armed response unit use these go protect there ears when they are shooting.

I bought a New Shoei Air cause I wanted the sun Visor.. My biggest complaint about the visor is that it does not go low enough and the sun reflects off from my Instrument panel and blinds me . Forcing me to keep my head tilted down while riding a naked sit up straight bike..

  • I dont think wormboy has ever crashed like I did at 70mph on a freeway to criticize cost of a helmet. He's stuck on cost and style rather than what works. Did he flex test it for you? Did he tell you what REAL MOTOGP racers wear, the pinnacle of what really matters over whining about cost and style (duh..SAFETY)? Nope!! Yeah..I bought a $800 arai corsair v back then after researching what REAL TRACK pros wear. Yeah I took a faceplant, and came out with just a concussion. Meanwhile a buddy with his $200 scorpion got his head drilled into to releave pressure in his accident. But by all means..go with this kid's price advice 🤣 and buy a $59 Bilt helmet to save a buck for your Harry Potter edition latte.

    • Roadsurfer2k11 All helmets are built to a specific spec and standard. In the upper price tier, there’s little difference between 400-700 helmets. You’d never buy a budget helmet for track days, and equally a ‘pop to the shops’ helmet is unlikely to be anything high end. ‘High end’ being entirely perceived these days as the quality of lower end helmets is constantly improving.

  • I have the same issue with the chin strap on the lanesplitter. This means, because you can't sufficiently fasten the strap without crushing your Adams apple, the helmet will easily lift at the front... I can pull mine above my chin. The visor is also useless in the rain, the weather sealing is non existent, allowing water to cascade down on the inside of the visor.
