I Built a Mountain-Climbing Motorcycle for $200
Prone to taking things literally, we shoved a wee lil’ engine into a bicycle to make a motor...cycle. Prone to making bad decisions, we also tried to ride it across a treacherous mountain pass at the onset of Canadian winter. [Details below]

Absolutely masterpiece of a motorcycle video!
Thats what im talking about, bicimotos are my life haha
Awesome content. This one made me sub. Keep up the great work. Very impressive.
These motorized-bike kits are very reliable for those with the skills to build one, but not so much for those who buy one that somebody else built, if you can't build one of these bikes, you shouldn't have, or even want one of them, they can actually be dangerous for these types of people, it's not really that hard, just about anybody can do it.
What bike is that???
Uumm 200$, this a fiction flick for certain.
I love this video and I've been subscribed for a while now to his channel, I raised 7 Sons and we put at least 10 of these together . I went riding one day with two friends to go fishing and we did a LTworlds video called - Why they hate me. Lol.
Who has one?
Great just Great 👍🏻
I bet he has seen Jeremy Clarkson a time or two
nice your getting me poetic about my passion to. address the chain tensioner. it have a safety issue about it bro.
Take it off. Get a spring loaded tensioner instead. Works a lot better.
Not a single fuck was given in the making of this video. So dope. 👍👌✌
Greaat Video ...👍👍👍 Mantaap👍 Hiii from Indonesia.
FOUR STROKE!
I converted my long wheel base recumbent bicycle, to a E-bike by adding a front hub motor. In parts of Europe, E-bikes are becoming the normal. Course mine is Electric, so range is limited to battery size. But seems a lot more reliable, then what you built. You should look into E-bikes. Heck using Hub motors you could build a the bike from Akira!
Thank you FortNine, I've been trying to tell women this for years smaller is better!
S you put a motor from ebay on a cheap as mountain bike.....stupid
This guy could make clipping his toenails into a 4k History channel documentary
Increased energy density means increased charging times..... Bikes need to go back to ethanol, not lithium, or a ride will primarily consist of waiting at charging stations and less riding.
NEVER just accept the world like it is and be like "eh, oh well I can't have what I want so I'm just gonna ride this tiny shitty motorcycle because I can't afford or store anything proper...", unless you're to blame for the circumstances. Think of an ideal world, and begin shaping it, start with yourself.
I hate those tensioners with a passion
Agreed - it's a terrible design. ~RF9
Scripted to such a degree it is literally Top Gear
Because it's there
Miserable driveability, incredible noise pollution, and a thick smog are my takeaways from seeing these go past me in the bike lane. A remarkable overview of something that I really dislike. The 2-stroke engine kits may be the cheapest way to motorize a bike, but they are far from the best.
Naw.....they are the best. I LOVE blowing past you on my two wheeled bug repellent.
Could you use an electric motor to assist the engine for more power in the low end.
What other motorcycle can go tits up and still be pedalled to the finish? A Puch Maxi after some malicious bastard cut *all* the cables (but not the Abus lock) and I had to pedal it seven miles in the cold and dark. Thanks :-)
He watch so much top gear he slowly turns in to jermeny clarkson, soon he speak proper british.
why is this channel called fortnite..
Every video is a piece of art, so rare to find on LTworlds.
pranit
man. i'm starting to get tired of your style.
Yeah the Chinese motors that are 80cc are mor like 66cc and the 100cc are more like 79cc because of the discrepancy in what portion they measure. Haven't finished the video yet, but bet money if he doesn't put a larger sproket on the back and smaller on the front he wont have the low end torque to go up any decent hills. He'll lose some on the top speed, but what's the point in speed if you cant go up the hill. Edit- yea I see he went with a bigger back sproket. Also glad to see he went with the brake upgrade and thread locker is a must on almost anything that bolts down on these things. Building one with my 10 year old this winter.
The only man alive that can do a video on butt plugs and make them interesting to even the straightest man
Jokes on him, that crappy used bicycle's now worth $450 due to covid bike shortage
Electric mountain bikes and dirt bikes are rad.
That’s actually a pretty decent old bike to start with. Really great taste using the Specialized with Manitou fork! Good to see that you appreciate pedal bikes as well as motor bikes.
So when are you guys going to actually demo a Sur Ron then?
Perfect complement to the TW200 vlog.
"Call me Ishmael"
Douche level: 10
Perfect camera! Interesting content, perfect storyboard, perfect dramaturgy! Great, go on!
What is the orange thing on his shoulder? Eperb?
_"But if that's where we started, it's also what we departed. Almost immediately. For things faster, things bigger, things far removed from wee motorized bikes."_ [Moped] *AM I A JOKE TO YOU?!?!?*
You are James May's son, i swear it.
I made one of these out of spare parts (not the engine) and rode it 1500 miles for transportation and it got the job done. Averaged 70ish mpg and had fun every moment. I kept it 16-1 oil ratio and the only reason i don't drive it now is that I blew out the spark plug. It doesn't do much in way of climbing, but if you keep the chain tight (was loose in video) it's practically maintenance free
After totaling (my fault) a machine with four times the power I really need and nearly totaling me in the process I think something like this may be the next thing. Thanks for this amazing video!
I feel sorry for not paying to watch this video!
Running out of content ideas??
Yo this guy literally made a movie man
Haven’t watched the whole video yet but a heads up don’t use the pineapple sprocket adapter. Those are deadly for your spokes
I’m getting a motorized bike kit but I have a road bike so it’s going to require some serious modifications
it’s like a fable, but on motorcycles
What are those visionary bikes at 13:06 ?
That was a great video, youngster.
Glorious.
Pushing the bike out of the tire array wreaks of Napoleon Dynamite. 🤣
Even knowing the channel, this was a surprise and then some. Ryan always brings cinematography, editing and detail of topic comparable (better than, really) to top level pro edits. How? Get a job at the Smithsonian already. Must be that film/media/physics triple-major lol. IDK
"Small motors small bikes".. I see you haven't spent much time in a "3rd world" country, that's how most people get around, cheap 50cc or 150cc dirt bikes and mopeds. Everything else is over top really, not really necessary just to get from a to b.
This is so so apt - Motorized Bicycle. I would be happy with non-motorized bicycle as well. 😊😊
Till the piston explodes from uneven heat and shitty material and you cant get a new one becuase all the companies that make em have different sizes
What all was used in this build?
He could make opening a box of cereal riveting.
I'd watch it
I was wondering what font you used for the lettering on the side of the gas tank. I’m naming mine Rona!
do this trip but with an ebike motor, i sold my dirtbike because the bike could do it all and more while being much cheaper
Reminds me of my first motorised bicycle, early 90s. 30cc two stroke engine strapped to the luggage carrier of my single speed Raleigh racing bicycle. It was supposed to be a 12-speed but by the time I bought it, the previous owner had stripped the damaged derailleur. I fitted the kit, bought from a local manufacturer just south of Jo'burg. What bags of fun. Cops wouldn't stop it on the road, no helmet, plenty of cuts, grazes and bruises, until it eventually died, after a few months. The legal framework to ride one of these in a modern Europe, doesn't exist. They're trialling electric scooters in some cities in the UK and hopefully down the road we'll have an opportunity to legalise motorised electric bicycles. I don't think we want to go back to dirty two stroke mixes. Plus an electric motor will be torquier.
Mahesh Babu of All bicycles
I want you to go full electric on it and have it charge up by pedalling too would like to see that
This video is so inspirational
I have built two of those. I almost got killed on the first one. I was riding along in the bike lane when that cheezy clamp on made out of tin chain tensioner got pulled into the rear wheel, ripping out several spokes and locking the wheel, causing me to crash hard. There was a sidewalk on the right, and a lane of fast moving traffic on the left. Fortunately I went down to the right. Had I gone left, I would have instantly been hit and killed by a speeding car. I still got banged up pretty good. A couple of years later I built another one. The cheap crappy tensioner got replaced by a heavy duty one mounted to the engine case. The rag joint rear sprocket got replaced by a clamshell mount that bolted directly to the rear wheel hub, so it was perfectly centered and wouldn't break the spokes. The engines are junk. I went through 2 of them in maybe 1000 miles or so, the bike is still parked in the shed in the back yard with a blown engine. The 80cc engines are actually 66cc when measured properly. Front and rear V brakes are more than adequate. Some people build these bikes with only a coaster brake on the rear. I'd say that is pushing it. Some day I may drag that bike out and put a proper 4 stroke engine on it. There is one hard and fast rule with bikes like this. They WILL fail at some point. They are probably 100 times more likely to fail than a proper non chinese motorcycle. NEVER ride one into something that you cannot pedal your way out of.
this is so cinematic
I built one of these in my garage 8th grade. I rode that thing to school every day at 6 to go to football practice lmao fun times
Your videos should get millions of views ! When i watching your videos , i see ; high quality , good story and the place to have information 👌 . Thank you for the great content 🙏😀
This is a masterpiece, the simplicity is incredible. I have watched it like 5 times.
Rim brakes and a motor seem to be a bad mix.
Going to go on a limb and say this is the highest quality video made about a cheap ass motor kit ever. Literally ever. The production quality of Top Gear reviewing LaFerrari, for a hundred dollar bolt on motor from China. Beyond epic.
Hello dear friends . I have Honda CBR 150R 2002 Model and I want to know how much engine oil I should put in to engine 1L or 1.5
Dude your literally going down hill or pedalling going up hill. Things I learnt about the motor today.... 0
“Mom we have top gear at home” the top gear at home. Nah this was a great video
Right! i can ride my 750w ebike around town no problem, but my 50cc g bike will draw out the "po" every time. they think it's a motorcycle. ?
Brilliant. Like always.
Absolute, award-winning quality, in every respect!
God DAMNIT this was an awesome watch.
In Soviet Russia -200$ is build for mountains
Less is more.
Oh dear - what is all the sensationalist nonsense
I do the same thing on a motorized bike in the mountains on the other side of the border in Montana.
What kind of mpg on standard paved flat surface roads does it get though?
Why, indeed. But also, WTF. Entertaining as always, and yep I learner something also.
I agree. Give us more skinny tank bikes: a mix of cruiser beauty with the performance and light weight of a dirt bike. Something between e-bikes and full-fledged motorcycle
what is the bagpipe jig? I have to know!
Great video next time try preditor 212.
LMAO 😂 love it tho . Deserves an Oscar
GMBN should get in on this, this is just awesome! I really wish manufacturers could already make cheaper, low displacement but reliable bikes that are still fun, or better yet, fully electric bikes that can go fast and hard.
Something nobody really ever mentions. Chainsaw engines are the ideal motors for a bicycle. They have ridiculous horsepower, and torque. Chainsaw engines also have ridiculously strong bearings on both sides of the crankshaft, that are extremely over built, and you can put thousands of hours on a chainsaw engine, running it full throttle. The cylinder bores on commercial saws, have Nikasil chromoly nitride, and they are indestructible. I had a lesser quality vintage Homelite 67cc chainsaw engine on a mountain bike. It had 4.3 horsepower. It would go 51 mph. My friend had a real Stihl chainsaw engine on a small BMX, and it was ridiculously fast, even faster than my Homelite bike. I think many of the "kits" are only around 1.5 horsepower.
I love the inclusion of Scotland the Brave at the end there.
Moby sized dick of a rider....lol
Canadians seem to be just as crazy as we finns are. Propably the long winters?
Great storytelling!👌❤️
Your poor knees... my god man, even if it's just for fun, get a bike that fits you...
The most impressive part of this build is that Specialized frame. It's pretty thin aluminum, speaks to the quality of the frameset that it can handle having a motor bolted to it...
