  • Hello from Siberia! Our nature and weather are almost like in Canada, only our roads are much worse. I go on a cruiser everywhere and faced the problem of choosing tires. It turned out that there are practically no off-road tires in the sizes 130 / 90-16 and 150 / 80-16. Even moderately off-road. Standard D404 Dunlop tires do poorly in mud. As a result, I ordered a Pirelli MT60 RS. I would be grateful if someone would advise something similar in this dimension.

I subscribed on the first video I watched, which was about 3 wheelers. I thought it was a big budget show made by LTworlds.

Just put a set of Michelin Commander 3's on my cruiser (2005 Yamaha Roadstar) .... best m/c tires I've ever had on any bike I've owned over the past 40 yrs. (The Michelin Commander 3's are excellent and a "notch above" the Metzler 888's, a "good" tire, that they replaced)

  • Too much information for my small brain. I ride ‘on road’, mostly sealed roads but often with pot holes, sand and gravel on the road, and slippery in the wet, most likely water and some spilled oil or pollution. My bike is most dangerous when it loses grip. Motorcycle commentators seem to be all about speed and riding at the limit. With cars wet weather tyres are all about treads that expel water, and maintaining tyre contact with the road. On my car I found the Bridgestone tyres long wearing and great dry road tyres but slippery in the wet. I fitted Michelin wet weather tyres and noticed greatly increased grip it the wet. My front wheel drive used to spin wheels on our smooth steep tiled garage ramp. No problem with Pirelli wet weather tyres. My Honda PCX scooter came with what look like racing slicks, with very little tread that I believe expel water. Great on good sealed roads but I want for wet weather tyres like I have on my car. I was told increasing groves reduces road grip as there is less rubber. I always felt confident with my Honda Wave tyres as they had more tread and bigger wheels to deal with rough surfaces. The Highway speed limit in Thailand is 90kph or 55mph and as I am 76yo I tend to ride at 40-60kph around town and up to 80 on the highway. I would really appreciate a road safety rather than speed performance VS economy review of tyres. Are knobbies better in the wet on bitumen? Do knobbies hold the road better with spilled sand or gravel on bitumen? The best tyre holds the road in the worst conditions. “There is nothing worse than the front wheel losing grip on a corner,” the voice of experience.

Looking to go on little adventures off the pavement on my Versys 650 but I am having a hard time finding good 80/20 road/off-road tires. Event the anakee 3 does not have a 17 in option.   • 2006 V-Strom 650, I have a hard time getting anything other than Mitas E-07. I spend a LOT of time on the pavement, including during rain, so I like the siping action of 50/50 tires. I almost never go on anything more gnarly than nasty roads, so the 50/50 tire is more than enough when I finally leave pavement. The nicest part -- they're inexpensive and last forever.

  • Yamaha Royal Star Venture OEM tire is a Dunlop 404. I would get 7500 miles on a rear. Went to Avon's Viper, now Cobra and get upwards of double the mileage. Ride well and I highly recommend for a heavy tour bike like the 800+ pound RSV

    • I ride a Yamaha Roadstar ... it had Metzler 888's, a "good" tire, on it when I bought it. Several months ago, I put a new set of tires on it .... I now ride on Michelin Commander 3's. Now that is an "excellent" tire. Best m/c tire I've ever ridden on, and I've been riding various street bikes for almost 40 yrs now. Commander 3's are perfect in every way.

  • This is another great video. One element that you didn’t mention but which is important is the tread symmetry. For street tires I highly recommend using tires with asymmetrical patterns, especially those whose grooves cross alternately towards the center of the tire. Why is this important? Anyone who has ever ridden across a bridge that has metal grating has felt the tires (especially the front) wobble as it tries to track with the grating. The same is true when riding on roadways that have had the top layer of asphalt removed prior to laying down a new coating. At best this can be distracting and at worst it can be dangerous. By using tires with asymmetrical patterns, they don’t try to track with the grooves. At the very least the front tire should be asymmetrical, and ideally both should be. It’s amazing how much easier a bike handles with these tires.

  • I know the Battleaxe has been updated but it was the OEM tire on my 08 Concours and I HATED IT. Absolutely terrible tire. I replaced them with Metzeler Road Tec Z6's and it completely changed my bike. Sorry. May not be the same tire today but I talk S!*$ about that crap a$$ tire every chance I get.

  • Last time I did any real continuous riding was 20 years ago. I ran Bridgestone S11 exclusively. They gave me incredibly reliable grip, even when bald on the centerline, and I could corner my V45 Magna hard enough to put the pegs on the ground. Those now seem to be rather hard to find. Now I know why, and I'll be looking into the availability of the S22 for my current ride. Thanks for the info, and now I understand a lot more. You ROCK!

  • If you want a tire, choose somewhere else. The shipment goes 'missing', Fortnine will hold onto your cash while you wait 24 days to get a refund. Do not buy anything from this company. Their courier will lose the item, Fortnine will do nothing to assist you until at least 24 days past the original order date. That is how long I am having to wait, so I can get my money back for tires so I can order them from elsewhere. Fortnine care nothing about motorcyclists.
