Where is this filmed?
Just rewatched this video a few months after the first time. I realized you never mentioned serious but not deadly back injuries in those stats... like a broken vertebra. Would you still NOT recommend a decent motorcycle jacket among the beginner's gear if you counted those? I feel naked without it, especially since I (was) crashed last year. - Thanks ! -
Who says Das Boot isn’t a romantic movie?
1:44 did you really watch Das boot ? like the german ww2 submarine film Das boot.
tiktok dick pick. won the net for me today.
You look like the Indian actor Mahesh Babu 🤔🤔
3:17 what about safety bars on the side of a motorcycle
Dude..if you didn't say, nobody else is there to say
Can anyone explain about the 4 finger clutch pulling bad thing? Well I tried to follow the advice of using two but the gear shifting doesn't seem to be as smooth as pulling the clutch all the way down or maybe I got some faulty adjustments for the clutch? Beginner here
"Light knock, light knock. Heavy as fock."
i love that “kinda” collab with other youtube channel..
why is Canadian using pounds and also if newbies keep falling, shouldn't we protect from skin damage not just death, solid vid as always tho
olololololo fukn lololol
DO NOT WEAR MOTOCROSS BOOTS TO YOUR MSF COURSE. They make upshifting near impossible. you can modify where the shift lever sits on any bike you own, but the course will not let you adjust theirs.
My riding jacket is pretty nifty. It's got the quilted inner liner for colder rides, the water-proof middle layer for wetter rides, and the armored mesh outer layer for all rides. In the Summer, I can just stick with the armored mesh. Each layer also has pockets of some type or another, which is nice. It also fits well, doesn't ride up my back and expose the crack, is easy to clean, and doesn't make me look like either the Michelin Man or a Rossi wannabe. Straight-up, it's good for cruising, riding about town, and adventure stuff, and I honestly don't think it would be bad for sport riding as well.
So why use 2 fingers for the clutch?
“Exercise your freedom” 💀💀😂
Surprised to learn recently why so few gloves likely don’t have sliders; sales rep told me no one will buy them due to comfort. Huh, I said?! Love my Scorpions with two palm sliders. (I did have an issue with a poorly placed thumb seam)
OK some people might laugh at me but why is it better to use two fingers on the lever than your whole hand
this guys needs a netflix special
Ryan you could turn a Luddite into a gearhead with them exemplary squiggles. (Fanboy here valuing the heck out of your cogent musings on all things motorcycle.)
i ride my ped in full black.... my lights also pop every 2 weeks at random or suttin
Did he ever explain why it's a bad idea to use all four fingers on the clutch lever?
1:31 Charlie Sheen?!?!!!
Its sureal to see the transition of ryan from being a manequine to a rebel wearing swag beginner gear
Had my first fall today, riding for 2 months/ 1,000 miles. Environment: 12/30/2020 night, suburbs no street lights + tinted visor Speed: slower than 30mph Full geared expected gloves used $1 cloth gloves under winter/snow gloves. Story: driving through suburb followed by vehicle, pressed to speed up. With low visibility and tinted visor, rode myself to edge of road, panic braked when road veer left. Only dime size bump on left wrist and hip, bike is okay just bent left foot rest. Result: learned that in low visibility, don’t use tinted visor, and when pressured by vehicle behind left them pass especially in new area.
Heavy as 'Fock'...A new four letter word every day !
Should've watched this video before I bought my vespa?
I LOVE your videos and it would be so cool to meet you one day. I hope you don't mind, I would like to share my story. I recently got into a pretty gnarly accident six days ago. If I wasn't wearing my Snell certified helmet (Shoei) and my Sedici jacket with the protectors in it, I'd be dead. My gear, helmet and bike were done. I high sided. I know exactly what I did wrong because of the last thing I remember. I was on one of my first group rides ever and I was the newest rider with the smallest bike (Z400) but was in the back. The guys in front were all doing well into triple digits. I didn't know the area so I pushed to keep up (my own stupid fault trust me I've been kicking myself for it). I lost control going over 90mph. Please be kind because although I walked away with my life I learned some really hard lessons from this. One of them was that I will NEVER ever slack on gear. Even if it wouldn't have been my fault which it was, it could have been another driver's mistake that caused an accident. Another was losing my bike I had a strong bond with after working on it and customizing it for just over one year. Another was that I probably won't go on another group ride. The pain of losing my bike and seeing the pictures of it totaled was almost more painful than my physical pain.😔 Anyway I was moaning before I regained consciousness. I don't remember anything except moments when the ambulance was rolling me from their bed onto the CT scans. Slowly I started regaining consciousness but I'd say that accident was one of the most intense pain experiences of my life. And I have a really high pain tolerance. I was moaning but I didn't shed a single tear. They thought for sure my back or neck was broken. Because of my back protector I didn't break my back. I had shoulder pads and arm pads. I tumbled along with my bike probably abt 300 feet and they found me in a cactus bush face up, visor missing from my helmet and my bike 80ft from my body. I was scratched up and they were pulling huge leaves out of the backs of my eyes. I had blood inside my ear from wearing headphones in my helmet (DON'T DO THAT). Well after the CT scan they concluded that I did have a concussion but no broken bones. My left arm is 25% usable. For now. For the first few days I couldn't move it. Now I can move it a little but the pain in my left shoulder is excruciating. I was wearing thick ass gloves too and still got gashes in my skin. My left arm and hand are swollen, I have bumps under the skin and the inside of my left hand is covered in deep bruises. They think I have a torn ligament. Definitely severe nerve damage as I can't feel the left side of my neck down my collar bone all the way to my thumb. So I have to get an MRI on my shoulder and arm but they're making me wait until Jan 7th.😭 I just have to ride the waves for now. Once I'm healed I'm gonna get another bike and heed these lessons I learned. I'll probably never ride with a group again as in the city I live in, no one rides chill. Which is why for a year I was riding by myself. I just got too excited and caught up in the moment. I was doing ok before that. I just really want to tell people DON'T SKIMP ON THE GEAR!!!!! It is NOT worth it. Like I said, you could be at fault or someone else could but if you're paralyzed from a broken back it's going to suck regardless of what caused it. I walked out of the ER that night (in a hellava lot of pain- they dosed me up on Fentanyl twice and that didn't do crap for the amount of pain I was in). I'm sure my left arm would have been crushed if I hadn't been wearing my pads. There is no way without all of that gear that I would have survived that. The people at the junk yard were blown away I was alive and well.
I wouldn't recommend Fox Comps for Enduro riding might be OK for light ADV or even road - I broke a toe and a Fibula wearing those noodles -Gaerne SG12e are stiff like ski boots and cosy as slippers - 3 times the price of a Fox Comp but bullet proof
Imagine repetetively and intentionally dropping a bike for a point in a video🙄 Yeah i know it’s just a bike and it can handle it but it just feels wrong
Heavy As Fock
Had to become a subscriber. You give knowledge & common sense mixed with funny perspective. Please keep up the good work!
I wonder, what's the things that are bad when you grip the clutch with all fingers? I couldn't find a video and I'm aching to learn more.
pretty good video
It’s TIBIA/fibula.
I'm always surprised at how few gloves have hard sliders. Usually 1/4 inch worthless foam.
I was going to ask what is good starting gear. Then I saw this video
30% of the video was unnecessary and boring.
👌🏻
I really like your style. Your remind me of Jeremy Clarkson ;-)
I always pull the clutch with all fingers. Whats wrong with it?
Man, if this "expert" keeps "dropping" his bike, it's either for a well produced video. Or it's reliable and droppable... if I was tall enough I'd buy one
did he ever get into the particulars of why 4 finger lever pulling is so bad?
My motorcycle training instructor told me to grab the clutch with the whole hand when he saw me doing it only with two fingers, since Ryan is never wrong I’ll go yell at my instructor
Knock knock Heavy as fock🤣
Bruh tell me why I just realized that Anthony is the CEO of RevZilla!! Holy hell, even more of a legend
Great vid - worthwhile and extremely well presented as always Ryan, thank you. Buuuut ... when I returned to motorcycling after the mortgage / child raising decades a very dear friend, who just happens to be an Accident and Emergency Department senior nurse implored me to be sure I had a decent jacket and pants! " Sure" she said " PROBABLY you won't die from your injuries due to shredded skin, or skin peeled back to the bone .... but the pain will make yo wish you were dead. And yes, we have some awesome surgeons can do miracles with skin grafts ... but don;t ever forget we have to TAKE that skin from elsewhere on your body so you;re going to suffer extra pain as well as the crash. Oh, and yeah, when skin heals you know how it gets all tight and irritable around the healing site ... trust me, you don't wanna find out what feels like on any thing over a very small graft ..." So, sure, I bought 'all seasons' gear ... In NZ 'DriRider is a reasonable priced 'known brand' has good protection in the fabric and armour, decent zip vents for airflow ... sure, I get a bit sweaty after a long summer ride, but set that against the avoidable pain of 'more' than mere gravel rash ! Right now, based on content ... I'm heading out shopping for gloves ... mine have hard knuckles, but I didn't know that about the hard sides aiding in a skid vs a fracture scenario... and 'at my age' fractures take longer... I'll have those before the 'new' ( used Tracer 900 ) is ready to collect ! So, thanks again and truly - I've learned so much from yourself that I doubt I could have ever hoped to have gained so much in so short a space of time! From an old dude, hopefully acquiring some small finesse and promising to practice more ... 3 minicones in the top box, I have no (adequate) excuse... there ARE no 'adequate excuses' eh !
Man I just wanna say started wanting a motorcycle at 16 got hooked on the Grom shenanigans to Yammy Noob , now I'm 21 bought my first bike and Ryan F9 (Hardest working LTworldsr/Post team)& DanDanTheFireman giving me the tips to not die.
If you cant ride like rossy, you slide like rossy.
I mean when it comes to the boots I got a great piece of advice from an old biker which was by really nice pair of logging boots with leather sole 2 reasons why you can get them with literal like metal reinforcing on the sides that'll like stop your ankle from snapping or or the like into you can literally have those things resold in reap repaired like a dozen times I mean the guy who told me that had been wearing those boots for 30 years and when he stopped writing he gave him to his grandson who's been wearing them for 10 years
Now i am afraid to ride😐
Actually super helpful video, even though the presenter reminds me of Manchester United's Harry Maguire 😁
Why is 4 finger clutching bad?
God dammit wish I found this video earlier.. Oh well. I know now. :D
2 vs 4 fingers when. i've been told both are bad depending on the person you talk too ? strange...
Holy Cow!! Citing your sources plus all you've done to the save the squids?! You might just be in the running for a Nobel Peace Prize!
I was in 14% 😂
Hey, Ryan. How about a video about "discount" gear that you can get online, like HWK, etc? Explain to us with testing, etc. on why we should pay $400+ for a riding jacket when I can get an HWK for $40-$50. Thanks!
I love how pragmatic he is! Fucking props to that, bro.
I don’t hit like on your videos because you don’t tell me to.
This is so cool this guy always gives very good information and his videos are very well done. Thanks!
Good or even decent gear is worth its weight and cost in skin, blood, and medical bills.
Ryan literally cares about our safety as bikers, as a viewer i cant thank you enough for teaching me how to equip myself with the most suiting gear for me, incredible quality and dedication to vids as always
Not So Pro Tip: ski boots are excellent substitutes for riding boots
Glad I have some friends who work at biltwell. They just convinced me to buy a bike hahaha!
Fuck...... I'm a 4 finger clutch grabber..
Just 1 minute into the video and i died laughung....LOL
Where can I get Five gloves, in the USA? I'm not finding an online vendor that carries the TFX, RS3/RS4, or the Globe, in the US.
Well.. riding in a knee high boot is always gonna be problematic for the majority of riders from a social fashion point of view. Do the next best thing.. Fit a crash guard and wear your helmet.
I'm 14 but I want to ride a motorcycle when I'm 16
One hell of a Das Boot reference
I like you bro but your opinion on the necessity of riding jackets and pants, Only took in to account injury. So to not even mentioning the excellent protection from wind and rain they offer is misleading. When your on the highway, if it’s raining or even just when the sun goes down It getting pretty fu(king cold on the back of a bike. And I wouldn’t be on one without. Normally I agree with you but on this one I think you tragically under Played what they do offer. Just had to say.
A few months ago some jerk hit me in the foot with his bike's front wheel sideways. Got metatarsal fracture. I was wearing flip flops 😁😂
Form india
Has anyone tried the HWK jacket and pants they claim to be waterproof and 4 seasons but that price tag scares me?
A plus with the boots is that when you kick someone you don't hurt yourself 🤣
Thats kindof ironic, our motorcycle instructors told us to always use all fingers on the brake and clutch lever as you have "more control" or something
Now watch me drive naked with only boots, gloves and a helmet
As a beginner, can't ask for better tips...thank you
hii, tnx for the good videos! I'm learning a lot. can you make a video on airbag vest ? what U know about it ? like Helite Turtle Airbag Vest(the only one I know) ? thanks :)
can someone please explain to me why using 4 finger in the clutch is a bad thing ? i'm a beginner rider and still learning. thank you
Unfair on the other channels to put out content so good
Das Boot is quite good. Not to be confused with "DOS boot."
Of all the colors to avoid, do not go with grey or white. They blend into the horizon easily. There is a reason why warships are painted grey
I slid like Rossi doing a 120kph crash on a power wheelie on my R1. Alpinestars Race suit. Super tech r boots and gloves, shoei helmet. Walked away without a single scratch. High quality gear makes a huge difference. Also frame slider saved the bike.
I've just started, riding. I've worked for all the gear I have, Most is used, but with proper look over,I trust everything to save me from injury. Though, This video has showed me I gotta get tall boots instead of using my usual ankle boots. Wish me luck. Thanks for the incredible video. 🔥
“Heavy as f”a”ck!
I know he is a professional but the bike dropping breaks my heart
Question. Benefit of two fingered gear control? Please do that video. I appear to be in bad habits!
This dude could be Charlie Sheens son.
HOW ON EARTH ARE THESE VIDEOS SOOO GOOODD????? Absolutely impressed with the quality of these videos, yet extremely informative
I mean. Some injuries might not put your life at risk. But that doesn't mean you won't have life altering injuries.
I know this video is older, but it's probably worth noting that some of the injury numbers are probably lower because most people wear a proper motorcycle jacket and pants, but they might cheap out on gloves and boots. Just a thought i had about the figures, correct me if i'm wrong.
It's not just Awesome entertainment. It's full of sexy Science & humour.
Nice daikon
3:23 id rather have my legs amputated than wear full size mx boots commuting and look like that
Loved the video! References are in APA format too lol! 😆
Anyone know the song in the beginning?
I'm here researching for a Can-am Ryker treat for myself next year. I know it's not a proper motorbike but with family members having died in motorbike collisions a long time ago it's always been a dream but not considered responsible enough. So I'm compromising. Really enjoying the videos and will work my way through over the coming months.
